Projected dates for 2027

Ramadan 2027 is projected to begin around 8 February and last 29 or 30 days, with Eid Al Fitr expected on 9 or 10 March. Those projections come from the UAE's Astronomy Centre, as reported by The National, and are subject to official moon sighting. Treat them as planning dates and confirm them in the final week of Sha'ban.

Under the official holiday rules on u.ae, the Eid Al Fitr break covers 1 to 3 Shawwal, and 30 Ramadan is also a holiday if the month runs to 30 days. That means your Eid campaign end date is uncertain by a day, so build in some slack rather than scheduling a hard cut-off.

One thing specific to 2027: Ramadan starts only a few weeks after the usual end of Dubai Shopping Festival in January. If you take part in both, plan them together in the autumn. See the full UAE marketing calendar.

How daily life changes

The biggest shift is timing. In recent years the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced a two-hour reduction in daily working hours for the private sector during Ramadan, and government hours are shortened too. Check the circular each year, but plan on people finishing work earlier and arriving home well before sunset.

Activity then moves to the evening. After Iftar, families gather, people visit each other, malls and restaurants fill up, and phones come out. Late nights are normal, and Suhoor, the meal before dawn, has its own dining and delivery moment. Generosity and charity are central throughout, and the last ten days bring both spiritual focus and a rise in shopping ahead of Eid.

Getting the tone right

Ramadan is a religious month first. Your marketing can be warm, useful and even commercial, but it should never feel like it's using the month as a sales gimmick. The question I ask of every piece of content is simple: would a fasting customer feel respected by this?

Side by side

Tone in practice

Avoid

  • Hard-sell discounts with Ramadan imagery
  • Food or drink shown in daytime contexts insensitively
  • Generic crescent-moon templates
  • Jokes that make light of fasting

Better

  • Generosity, family and community themes
  • Useful content: Iftar ideas, schedules, Eid gifting
  • Clear, warm greetings in English and Arabic
  • Offers framed around giving and gathering

Language matters as well. A short greeting in Arabic alongside English is appreciated by many audiences, but it should be written or checked by a native speaker. My notes on Arabic and English content cover how to handle this without doubling your workload.

What it looks like by sector

  • Restaurants and cafes: Iftar and Suhoor menus, group bookings and delivery. See restaurant marketing in Dubai.
  • Retail and e-commerce: gifting, home, fashion for Eid, with clear delivery cut-offs before the holiday.
  • Services and clinics: adjusted hours, booking reminders and gentle wellbeing content. Health claims still follow the usual rules.
  • B2B: fewer pitches, shorter emails, and respect for reduced hours. Many decisions slow down until after Eid.

Ads and timing

Most of the work here is scheduling. Your audience is online at different hours, and competition from big advertisers tends to rise as the month goes on.

  • Shift ad delivery and posting towards the evening and late night, when engagement usually peaks.
  • Build Eid campaigns before Ramadan starts, so they're approved and ready for the final week.
  • Expect higher costs in the last ten days and start earlier rather than spending more later.
  • Update your Google Business Profile with Ramadan and Eid hours.
  • Pause or rewrite any always-on ads that show daytime eating or drinking.

How to tell if it worked

Compare Ramadan with the four weeks before it, not with a normal month last year, because the dates move. Look at enquiries, bookings and sales by hour of day as well as in total; the shift towards evening tells you when to staff your phones and WhatsApp next year. For paid campaigns, Meta ads in the UAE explains which results to trust.

Questions people ask

Six to eight weeks before the projected start date, so creative and approvals are ready. For Ramadan 2027 that means starting in December 2026.
Yes, many businesses do well. Adjust timing towards evenings and keep the tone respectful.
Not necessarily, but a warm greeting in both Arabic and English is appreciated by many audiences.

In recent years the private sector has had daily hours reduced by two, and government hours are shortened too. Confirm each year's official announcement.
