Why it works here

Dubai is a relationship market with a lot of turnover. People move between companies, new founders arrive every month, and buyers often check a person before they check a company. When someone searches your name after an event or an introduction, your LinkedIn profile is usually the first thing they find. A profile that's clear and a feed that shows how you think do a lot of selling before you're in the room.

The goal is not to become an influencer. It's to be the obvious person to call when one of a few hundred potential clients has the problem you solve.

Fix the profile first

Posting drives people to your profile, so it needs to do its job before you start. This is the checklist I use.

Four themes that work

Lessons

What you learned from a project, a mistake, a decision.

Opinions

A clear point of view on your industry, backed by experience.

Behind the scenes

How your business really works.

Useful

Frameworks, checklists and tools your audience can use.

Rotate the themes so your feed doesn't become all opinions or all promotion. A useful test before you post: could only you have written this? If anyone in your industry could have, add the specific detail from your own work that makes it yours, while keeping client confidentiality.

How to write a post people finish

  1. Lead with the point. The first line is all most people see before "see more".
  2. Use short paragraphs. Many people read on their phones between meetings.
  3. Give one idea per post. Save the second idea for next week.
  4. End with something useful or a genuine question, not "Thoughts?"
  5. Read it aloud. If it sounds like a press release, rewrite it.

Formats

Text posts are the backbone because they're quick to write and easy to read. Mix in other formats when they suit the idea.

  • Short text posts with a strong first line.
  • Document (carousel) posts for frameworks and step-by-step guides.
  • Short video, especially talking to camera, for opinions and explanations.
  • Comments on others' posts, which build relationships and visibility with less effort than posting.

A weekly routine for busy founders

Two to three thoughtful posts a week for six months will do more than one viral post. The audience that matters, your future clients, is small and specific. Keep a running list of ideas in your phone, write two posts in one sitting, and spend fifteen minutes a day commenting on posts from clients, partners and people you'd like to work with. Keep in mind the UAE's Saturday and Sunday weekend when you schedule: weekday mornings tend to suit a professional audience.

Using events and messages

Dubai runs a busy calendar of conferences, trade shows and industry meetups, and LinkedIn is where those conversations continue. Before an event, post about what you'll be there for. After it, share one useful takeaway and connect with the people you met within a day or two, with a short personal note that mentions where you spoke. Avoid pitching in the first message. A thoughtful follow-up that adds something, such as a link to an article you discussed, does more than a sales message.

When you do message prospects, keep it short and specific to them. Generic connection requests followed by an immediate pitch are easy to spot and damage the trust your posts are building.

How to tell if it is working

Side by side

  • Likes on a single post
  • Follower count
  • Impressions from people outside your market

Business signals

  • Inbound messages from the right people

Ads plus personal brand

Company ads perform better when people already recognise the founder. See LinkedIn ads for B2B companies in Dubai. If you're a consultant setting up, my notes on being a digital marketing consultant in Dubai cover positioning.

Questions people ask

Two to three times a week is sustainable for most busy founders.
Both, but personal profiles usually get more reach and trust.
Many founders work with a writer, but the ideas and experiences should be yours.
Who you help and the result you help them get, in plain words. Add Dubai or UAE if you work mainly with local clients.
Expect a few months of consistent posting before inbound conversations become regular. It compounds slowly.
